I’m translating Joan’s male armor into female armor in an iconic rather than a practical sense. These Armor Dresses will be initially made into 10″ 3D full color print sculptures, and, after some fundraising, created as bronzes. This Project will include drawings and paintings to also help fund the sculptures. The larger vision is to install these as bronze sculptures in repressive cultures notorious for human rights abuses particularly of women and children.
Goldleafed bronze, and at 9 feet high (13 feet on pedestal), they could provide provide more balance amongst such severity. While the likelihood of this happening is remote, it does represent a compelling challenge.
